Is it normal that super rich sweets make me sick, but sugar does not?

About two years ago I switched from regular soda to diet soda. I've since then quit drinking diet soda, and started drinking more water, lightly sweetened tea, flavored water, and the occasional sprite or watered down koolaid/crystal light. I've been slowly and steadily changing my diet over these two years, in a two steps forward one step backward fashion. I eat more fruits and veggies, less carbs, and try to add as much fiber and protein as I can.

Ever since I've begun to change my diet habits, I've noticed that super sweet and rich foods make me physically ill. I tried to eat a honey-bun the other day, because it was cheap, and I was craving sugar, so I gave in to it. I nearly vomited after the first nibble. Some things are worse then others. I can barely eat rich icings, I CANNOT eat snack cakes, or rich restaurant style deserts, but I CAN stomach other things. Things like pudding and jello, which are mainly sugar, don't affect me at all. Deserts I make at home, like cookies and cakes and that blackberry cobbler are all completely fine.

This is a good thing for my body because I'm not packing it full of processed junk anymore, but it still bewilders me.

Is this normal, IIN??? ^_~ <3 <3 <3

  • diet soda has "aspartame" in it and over time it will eat holes in your brain. any diet thing usually does have it in it and fake-sugars does have it to so the flavored water might have it in their its in gum and in alot of other stuff you might want to look out for it i stopped chewing gum because of whats in it.

Avant-Grade left out "aspartame". but you can do as you like

Stop eating HFCS and artificial sweeteners. They are extremely dangerous to the health! Please switch to organic Non-GMO foods/drinks. It'll pay off in the end!

Do you have HFCS in your country? That stuff really affects some people. From the description of what makes you feel bad, it sounds like it might be the guilty party.

    • High Fructose Corn Syrup? If that's what that stands for then, yes. I live in the US, and here, well, we bathe in HFCS.
