Is it normal that sometimes i wish that i was an insane person?

When I'm facing an embarrassing situation, when I do a terrible mistake...the first thought that goes through my mind is:
''It would be so great to be a mentally ill person right now who wouldn't care at all about what's happening''.
Is anybody else experiencing these thoughts, sometimes I really want to be crazy.
In some measure...I consider insanity directly proportional with freedom in today's society.

Being insane is the worse thing that could happen to you. There isn't much people understand about insanity. Anybody who tells you 'If you were insane you wouldn't know" is an idiot. The truth is, you can feel every single shred of insanity. You know exactly what is happening but you just can't seem to take control of yourself. Do you want to know how it feels when you start mumbling to yourself in public so that you are louder than your own brain? Or when you start beating yourself to bruises because your water pressure was too weak to shower? It isn't fun or liberating. You know exactly what people around you are thinking and you hate them for it because they have no f*cking idea what it feels like to watch yourself ripping to pieces.
Insanity is nothing like what people stereotype.
Insanity is the depths of loneliness and desperation.

I can understand that those who are not insane cannot begin to empathise at all with what it is to be insane. However, isn't there an argument for insanity (in the sense of psychotic disorders) improving a person's freedom of mind, in the sense of creativity and inventiveness?

I am deeply interested in speculations that the psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder (such as inventing characters that are incredibly real to the beholder) could directly link to increased creativity in individuals. And isn't creativity a kind of freedom?

I've not been psychotic myself as far as I know, though, so I can't yet claim these hypotheses as facts. What is everyone's take on it?

You know being insane does not mean you don’t feel guilt or shame. You are an ignorant a***hole. Mentally ill people are made fun ridiculed and ostracized their whole life. It is not like they enjoy being crazy. It does not mean they do not feel embarrassed about being the way they are or when they feel they have done wrong.

Imagine everyday being chased and having rocks thrown at you on the playground. Imagine everyday someone telling you how bad you are. Saying what kind of tests you need. Imagine always getting the diagnoses wrong. Imagine being locked up and having your rights taken away.

Imagine being poked, prodded and experimented on as a human test monkey with no remorse or sympathy from the people in charge of you. Imagine your parents threatening to send you away your whole life. Being told you are different, bad, and wrong and not freely allowed to express yourself since everything that does not confirm is wrong.

Imagine the torture of knowing your horrible and not being able to fix it! Do you know what self loathing is? How terrible it is to be a freak your whole fucking life! SO NO ITS NOT FUN YOU FUCKING YOU DICKHEAD!

Can you imagine the person with schizophrenia having to listen to voices telling them to hurt people, seeing things happen that are not really there, seeing things that don’t exist but wont go away. Can you imagine being chased and beaten up on the playground since "Oh they take medication".

Can you imagine your own parents rejecting you and telling you why you have to pretend you are happy every single moment of the day. when you are miserable just to avoid more accusations?

Can you imagine how embarrassing it is for that kid for tics when they do something weird they cant control. Can you imagine afraid every day that you might slip up and be locked in the nut house? Being told other kids can feel things but not you since you are under observation?

Doped up on meds, 3 meals a day, a padded cell, throwing shit at people and getting away with it. That's the life Brah.

    • Hahaha, I had this image of a guy throwing a pig piece of shit at someone and being like "I'm crazy, I don't know any better" in calm voice like he knew exactly what he was doing.

I can understand what your trying to say, although as a schizophrenic, I don't find being mentally ill fun at all. I am tormented by my own brain every day. It sucks.
Be glad you are without a mental illness. Please appreciate it!

Ok. There are many, many forms of "insanity". Of course, I doubt you would really like any of them and some are terrifying to say the least. I'm guessing your thinking of the severe mental illnesses like schizophrenia and bipolar and the like. With someone on the milder end of the spectrum, yes there may be some benefits like enhanced creativity, more imaginative ideas, etc. However, even with a milder form of the illness you still would likely experience some degree of torment at least some of the time. However, someone who is fully detached from reality does not generally go to a happy place of their own making. They usually go to a hellish, violent, and disturbed place which is not really of their own making, yet in some way it is but they just cannot figure out how. Also, a lot of people in this state wind up just wandering around aimlessly with nowhere to go in a state of utter confusion possibly after having left someplace where they were safe previously. Sometimes an 'insane'/psychotic person from time to time will even begin to act out violently or aggressively and then moments later not know why they did it. I have experienced a bit of madness in the past myself (not full blown, but pretty bad) and I can say from experience that it is not fun at all. However, I think I have gotten over it a better person in some ways, which can happen sometimes. Of course, for many madness completely turns their lives inside out and upside down for good and ruins their mind in the process.

Okay, I feel like you are getting a lot of undeserved hate. I sort of have felt how you feel, and I think its because you want escape. Your mind doesn't want to deal with the fear and embarrassment so it finds a solution that would help. Some people laugh it off, some retreat into themselves. This is just a way of your body to try to escape.

That doesn't mean it is healthy, though. Next time you feel this way try to acknowledge your feelings but face the situation head on. The more you do it, the easier it will get, and the less likely you will be to want to have a health problem. ^^
