I come on here quite a bit, and I ask questions, obviously. And don't get me wrong, almost everyone is a lot of help. But sometimes I feel like I just don't fit in with all of you is it normal people and your online community here. Like I feel unaccepted sometimes when I comment or even by some of the answers to my questions...
It does sometimes seem like there's a core community, then a satellite community of that core, and then a bunch of comets and asteroids who wander by themselves.
What I would say is that you'd be surprised how much I notice the people that I don't acknowledge. The community for me is everyone (as opposed to just the people I speak to most often). For the first time in a long time on IIN, there isn't a single person here that I dislike even mildly. It feels like a good place to be and I'm keen that we're nice to each other, an inclusive.
Are there specific reasons or instances you've felt unwanted?
Other people have made few stories about feeling that same way, you're not alone in that. I felt that way for the first two years I was on the site. It didn't bother me though, but I didn't know what I was missing. Then there was a purple dude and a catywompus, then...
Well, here I am. I wouldn't say I "fit in" but I feel comfortable, now.
Try to make a connection with one or two people who you feel are similar to you. It takes a little effort, but it's worth it. ;D
I love the community here and the solidarity, but I'm also a strong individual and love individuality. Be unique, it's better than being just a cog in the masses.
I don't always feel like I fit in here. Actually, I rarely feel like I do. But there are a few people who make me feel good about the time I spend here. As a few others have already stated, it just takes one.
I get what you mean. It's easy to not feel like you fit in for whatever reasons, in any place, and IIN is no different. I think bananaface and thisissomuchfun have given great advice, particularly about making just one connection and seeing where that leads...most people here are pretty open to it :)
For me, fitting in is more of a feeling. I probably look like I fit in alright here, I talk to some users, I make posts, and comment, etc. But it doesn't always feel like I'm involved to me. I feel like a part of it right now, though, which I like. Anyway, maybe you're the same. You're contributing by the sounds of it. I don't know who you are, but I'd be surprised if others didn't notice you being here. I appreciate a lot of the users I've said virtually nothing to.
If it's a matter of feeling like your personality doesn't match, then I understand that too. Although, one of the things I love about this place is that there are lots of users who I have stuff in common with. It's a shame you feel that way. It might just need a bit of time, though. I know that's the case for a few. After taking a break, it takes me ages to feel like a part of it again, not sure if that shows. Maybe you just need to change your outlook on how you fit in here. Like I said, chances are, someone's noticed you.:)

There really is no fitting in here. There's getting along but we are very diverse in our beliefs and shit here so you're never going to really "fit in".
Especially if you're like Wambo and you go spam up the damned chat room and then ask why people don't like you.
Yeah I get that too, they are plenty nice and all but, I seem to find more in common with the people who post the abnormal stories..:)
But, like dappled said. Some of us notice more than you may think. Not to sound creepy but most of te time I've been here I just observe the community members cos I was too shy/inept to be involved, I know a lot about them, because I remember everything I read, but most them don't know me..:)
