Is it normal that some women avoid eye contact with me?

I recently came across a few women who for some reason do not want to make eye contact with me, unless they are talking to me. I too am a woman.

So these are not friends, but women I've recently met, one a work colleague. If there is someone else in he room, she will only speak to that person, never making eye contact with me. She will however make eye contact with me if I am speaking or if she is speaking to me. Is this normal?

What could possibly be the problem or reason why women would avoid contact with other women?

Why should you make eye contact when you're not speaking to one another? This I do not understand...

    • Do you ever attend meetings at work? If so, do you only maintain eye contact with one person?

You seem like an attention seeker.

This might sound harsh but stop jumping to conclusions. Maybe they don't make eye contact with you because they don't like you. It could be anything. It's wrong to assume that they are avoiding you.

Do you have a dominant personality? A stare that could be interpreted as intense? That could be it. These women could be shy and easily intimidated. In terms of the lady who only makes eye contact with one person, it could be that she is comfortable with this person.

I am actually quite shy. And I don't stare... But am a good listener...

That is true about her being comfortable with the other person, because she's known her for a long time....

I know I'm weird, but to me, eye-contact is something very personal, almost intimate. Maybe those women are a bit like me.

  • Maybe they are intimidated by you, or are introverted and it takes them longer to feel comfortable with new people.

Or, maybe they avert their eyes out of shame; which would happen if they have been discussing you (negatively) when you're not around.

Maybe these chicks are just wusses and they're intimidated by you?
