Is it normal that so many of my friendships end abruptly

I'll be really good friends with someone, then we'll just suddenly stop talking for no apparent reason and never talk again? I want to know if I'm to blame, if it's something I'm doing wrong as a friend, or if this is normal? Sometimes I won't message them to see if they'll care enough to message me and when they don't we just never talk again...

    I do that with people too, if I feel like i have initiated too much contact without results I take a step back and if they do not follow I guess I found out where they stand.

    It does however sounds weird that this has happened to you a lot but maybe you ARE doing something wrong? I would try to ask them.

    I got to know this girl at my school in August and at first I was really confused to why she had no friends ... well I found out xD
