Is it normal that certain smells trigger memories of the most random things...like even things that have happened a long time ago?
Does the smell of SHIT remind you of anything,or bring back fond memories as well?
they say smell memory is extremely salient in humans.
right now, whenever at work i open the label bin with these plastic labels attached to a roll of semi-laminated paper, i get this incredibly nostalgic feeling. BUT i CANNOT pin it! i can't think of where it comes from, quite yet. it's like it's on my mind's tip-of-the-tongue, so close, but not all the way.
Smells are strongly connected to emotions. A girl home from college found a bottle of no-more-tears shampoo and couldn't get over how happy it made her feel. Like a little kid again.
More memories are actually triggered by smell than sight. Look it up...pretty nifty.
