Is it normal that she behaves like that?

Well, we have this girl at the university, she has some kind of "dark halo" around her, I can't describe it very well, she is EXTREMELY CLOSED, she wears all black clothes, she doesn't talk to anyone, she just spends all of her time alone and looking at the others with a creepy face ( A proposital creepy face, fyi). She never laughs, she enjoys all types of creepy things like stuff related to blood and darkness and she carries a book called Book of Death, we couldn't look at it properly (Btw, it's not Death Note, lol). Here is a case: One day our history teacher asked her what was her pingent about, if it was the Star of David, and she replied with a quiet voice "It's a pentagram".

So, me and my friends and btw, we are not judgemental AT ALL, but we're feeling pretty insecure with her, like we think she may lose control any time and do something...bad. is it normal we think this way?

  • She's not going to be a problem. The biggest creeps are almost invariably sunny and social types. Because the people who are "bad eggs" hide their negative traits well below the surface. Quiet, loner types are usually just as they appear.

I think that she just does this to make people talk about her. Another attention seeker.

Well coming from one of those "dark, creepy" girls, usually if I'm quiet and being weird around people it's because I'm so used to getting that sort of judgement from people, getting glares and comments and rudeness everywhere I go, and even being treated badly by officers of the law because my piercings make me "scary", you just kind of close up around people all the time. You put up those defenses to keep them from talking to you because it's easier than having to deal with all the narrowmindedness.

Bet you any money she's a wiccan too, not a satanist. And let me tell you people just *love* when you assume they've been sexually abused as a child because of the way they look. Class act.

Oh, that's a nice point of view there! Thanks for the comment.
She actually must be used to getting judged by people.

It's pretty common. People tend to be afraid of or at least wary of what they don't understand. College is a lot better in my experience, but in primary school people were pretty horrid.

Yeah, what worries me the most is exactly those horrid people. That kind of group can freak out even a "normal" person with their lack of common sense, and I can only imagine what they are able to produce to people who already got a tough and maybe psychologic instable life.

Oh yeah, look at teen suicide rates and how many of them are at least in part due to bullying in schools. Of course, the psychology at play in the mind of a bully is an odd thing.

The way I see it is people are so insecure and so desperate for acceptance by their peers, they create a "them" in order to have an "us". Make some people outsiders, give you and your peers common ground by picking on them, become more similar by not doing the things said "outsiders" do, and you have a peer group.

            We're rather dysfunctional nowadays. :/

I appreciate the deathnote comment you made. I got a good smirk from that. As for the girl, I think you should talk to her and try to befriend her. Or at least see what's troubling her. However, knowing her type she'll probably have this impregnable wall around her to keep her from getting any friends. Either ways try seeing what her deal is, maybe she's in a dark place and Satanism is her only escape. Idk, I'm sort of thinking of Raven from teen titans when I picture this girl.

Yeah, I got your point. I think this behavior she's got may have to do with some kind of trauma in her childhood. But, even so, I'm very reluctant of her thoughts and actions to be able to actually befriend her, that's really not something I'm willing to do, if you can understand me. It's just this feeling that, someday, somehow, she may unleash all her bad feelings at once and do something crazy, it's hard...

It`s strange how people tend to pick on people who seem weird to them, because theyr`e usually harmless, It`s the extrovert backslapper that we need to be wary off. Just look at the jimmy savil case!

At some point she is bound to realize that she is in university. In the meantime minding your own business may be the best. You and your friends could leave it all alone.
