Is it normal that rhymes make something more convincing?

Whenever I'm listening to a speech or story, it always seems more convincing if it ends with a rhyme. Rhymes get stuck in my head, and whenever I repeat the phrase in my head, it starts making sense... is it normal that rhymes make something more convincing?

    I'm going to refrain
    From writing a refrain.

I found this post very intriguing,
And even though I had finished reading,
I sat and thought about it's meaning,
So much that I started dreaming,
About cats that were promptly singing,
On top of a very tall building.

    Fin.

    Here's a poem I wrote when I was sixteen:

Here I sit in my room
    Feeling down, looking gloom
    But no more said I
And lit a joint and felt very high!
Now I sit in my room
No more down, no more gloom.

    At the walls I stare
    Thinking they look fairly fair
After an hour of looking at the wall,
    My mind begins to fall.

So, I look at the sky
And think how nice it was to be high!

    So...another joint said I.

I found that poem just recently. I forgot all about it. I had it with my very first drivers license.

Somehow I knew dappled would reply to this...

I don't like rhymes that work like this, because it makes the point no more true, but everyone still believes it just because it rhymes. Grr...
