Is it normal that people will rub/touch their eyes when looking at me?

ignore all these other comments above me. they don't know what you are really talking about. but i know exactly what you are talking about. i had a lower eye lid surgery few years ago, and they took out the fat under my eyes to treat dark circles, which they thought it was due to bags, but they were wrong, it made my lower eyelids darker.

after the operation, i noticed more people started to rub their eyes when they look at me. i just knew that it was due to my dark circles. i knew i was not crazy, because people did not rub their eyes before the surgery. when people rubbed their eyes, it bothered me. it was nothing positive. i felt judged.

to compare with an example, say you're eating hot cheetos or something spicy, and your lips turn all red. when people see you with your red burning lips, they might cover their mouth. i cant pin point a terminology for this, but you get the idea. people touch their part of their face when they notice something unsettling about what they see in your face.

you are not hallucinating. the sad part is, only people like me who has been in your shoes can only understand how you truly feel about your specific problem, that i have as well. my girlfriend also tells me that its all in my head and theres nothing wrong with me, and my family tells me that too. but they keep rubbing their eyes, scratching their face when they look at me. i feel like being lied to every time.

but the truth is, our dark circles are probably noticeable, but not bad enough to make people tell us that it is bad. but just bad enough for people to "non verbally" judge us with their voluntary bodily actions and still tell us verbally that its not bad.

by the way, i have some suggestions you might want to try out to better your under eye problem
-swim everyday to keep the area hydrated
-apply eye creams that contain hyaluronic acid, maybe even vitamin K would work, if the problem is broken capillaries
-eat and gain the fat back. all though you cant specifically gain fat on specific areas of your choice, try eating enough so that at least your face bloats up a little to develop a nice contour on your upper cheeks which may mask the hollow under eye region a little.

Breaks my heart evertime someone rubs their face. Scratch their head and panick rub their eyes if they saw me unexpectedly fast. I almost broke up with my gf because I can't handle seeing the one I love most be allergic to looking at me.

hey guys .. firs of all i apologise on my poor english.
on the issue: i exactly knows what you talk about - Although people around me not only touches their eyes it's also include nose ,forehead and neck all the time when the look at me and ,today i can tell for sure its not in my head despite the fact that this phenomena is not Known yet in the field of psychology(i am psychology student ) , its why it's feels so lonely because when you tell someone they don't understand what you talk about and think you exaggerate and all this ignorant comments .
i think that i have some clue what it possibly relate to :
did you knows haw camera effects people when they surprisingly pay attention on this camera ? all this eyes nose and all this face touches start happen . you can see this phonomena clearly in soccer matches in the beginning before the players go up to the field when the stand and wait to go out when they surprisingly pay attention on camera they automatic touches their faces .pay attention you will recognise those touces of eyes nose and the important thing is that its subconscious response .
my point is that i think that humens react in this subconscious reactions to some proportion on our faces for example i self is not ugly or model but my appearence attract wary much attention from the environment and good one from ladies , its funny and annoying to see that when they flirt whit me for example they touches every to seconds their nose or eyes and dont realise that its because of me .
i think its a good guess of you that after the operation your appearance was cause this eyes touches but i tink from my expiriance that they dont rationaly judging you maby only in they subcontionse i dont think that they anderstend whay they response like they do.
i have more ideas about this but its enough for now...

You must be seeing what you want to see. People on average touch their faces 3000 times a day. So I'm sure they are rubbing their eyes not because of you.

I rub my eyes after a long session on the can. I think it's because I get tired powerdumping
