Is it normal that people who won't look anyone in the face annoys me?

So, there's this girl at work that I really don't like to interact with. Any time that she speaks to anyone she won't look in their eyes. She looks at their forehead, behind them, over them, to the right or left of them and the worst she rolls her eyes back in her head. OMG, it sickens me when she does it. I can't even stand to see her talking to someone else! Yet she acts like she is just the most intelligent outgoing person on earth...This is so annoying.

I find it curious how easy it is to judge someone this way without knowing their internal thoughts behind those actions. At work, alot of people, one guy in particular, think im conceited, because i dont say hello to them first. Its not that I dont want to, its that ive never been a social butterfly, so im beginning to develop ways to socialize more with people. Direct, sustained eye contact is something I'm working on

When I walk or talk or act, its always with confidence however it is forced and gradually ill learn to become naturally. This does NOT mean that on the inside im thinking "im better than everyone else and i wont make eye contact"

she might be this way she might not im just giving you a possible explanation a likely explanation

  • You do realize when people don't stare into others eyes it's usually because they don't have enough confidence to make eye contact with people for a long time.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe some of the people don't make eye contact with you because they might have an autistic spectrum disorder? It's one of the classic symptoms.

  • What annoys me more is when someone who is looking me in the eyes, keeps flashing a glance at any impurities I may have that day. Have some self control people!

I don't find eye contact that necessary. Like, I realize when it's expected, and play along with "social rules". But when I don't really care about making an impression I never bother looking at the person when I talk. Makes it easier to concentrate, really.

I hear they have this as a rule in some parts of Asia. A girl I knew who transferred from Asia would not look the teacher in the eyes because it is a considered rude to look adults in the face in her culture.

Yes, it's normal. People raised in western societies need eye contact and feel threatened when they don't receive it.

It irritates me as well. I don't speak to people if they stare off into space, as if they're talking to themselves.

It is all to do with personal space. If you are standing too close to somebody who you don't know well, they often find it hard to look you in the eyes. Sounds like this girl might not like people standing very near her. Maybe make sure that you are not in her face all the time. Just a theory btw, may have nothing to do with it.
