Is it normal that people think something is wrong when i smile?

I keep a straight face a lot of the time. People always think i'm p*ssed off and such but I just think its creepy to have a slight grin on all the time, plus its too much effort.
So When I smile I people are always are worried and think i'm faking it. E.g. When I got my gcse results my mum thought I got bad grades when I really got A*s and Bs.
It is really annoying. More importantantly, Is it Normal

Everyone always thought I was sad, and it turned out I was. I was very depressed but I thought it was normal. Maybe you really aren't happy? I think it is normal but it would be nice for people to not think it is a bad thing when you smile.

Why smile unless you have a good reason? When I'm happy, I let out a grin, when I'm moot -a great portion of the time- I show no expression. There's no point in lying to yourself or others. Be yourself and, if others around you don't get that already, they're stupid. I have a large circle of friends who get my subtle shows of emotion, or lack thereof. They find it hilarious when I seemingly break character and laugh hysterically at something, though.

I never used to smile as a kid, I was always 'the grumpy one' or always 'feeling blue' according to my parents - they always used to tease me about it, and it was a pain in the arse when they'd constantly ask if I was OK, and when I smiled they made a huge fuss over it.
But now, I'll smile/laugh at almost anything, and I can't keep a straight face for long. I prefer smiling, when I'm on the bus/in the car I'll just smile, without knowing I'm doing it, it's become so natural. I don't know why it's become like that, it just has.

    I'd say you're normal. :)

Feels so strange to be the only one so far who wished more people smiled. There's enough stone faced sad sacks around already.
