Is it normal that people think i'm tall?

I'm 5'6 and a half, and I'm a girl. I always thought that it was at the higher end of average, maybe just a touch above, but people are always remarking about how tall they think I am. I don't mind it, I just think it's a little odd. I'm also pretty thin at 117 lbs, so maybe my skinniness makes me look taller than I am? Anybody else get this?

I wish I got that :P I'm 5'1 and all the comments I get are "No way you are 20! You look more like 15 or 16." "Awww, so cute" "Great things come in small packages" *can't reach something* ":P can't reach it? lololol here, i'll get it." Their are wayyyy more things said to us little people I think lol I don't mind to much anymore either, it used to annoy me to no end though

Average height for a woman is 5'4" in the US. 2.5 inches above average is noticeably taller, so it makes sense. Also bear in mind if you wear shoes / high heels that's 1 or 2 inches on top, putting you at 5'7.5" to 5'8.5", up to 4.5 inches taller than average.

As you say, body shape can add to the appearance of greater height, so being slender probably contributes :)

My cousin is like 5'4'' and is constantly being told how tall she is. She's short! Taller than me, but still short.
Her legs make up like 80% of her body and we always tease her about it, so maybe you have really long legs?

I'm 5'10". I was 5'8" when I was 12 years old. I used to not like being tall because of the teasing. But I let that go. Just walk proud. Shoulders back and head high!

I'm about the same, and I've always wondered the same thing. I'm a little over 5'6, and 115 pounds, and people are always remarking how tall I am. Sometimes I think the fact that I'm so skinny, is what makes me seem/look taller.

When I was really little, my doctor told my mom that he thought I would grow up to be about 5'8 or 5'9. Well, looks like he was wrong. :p And in elementary school I'd practically tower over people. Haha! People would say, 'you should get into modeling' or 'you should play basketball'. But once I got around middle school age, and into high school, I felt like I was more average, and maybe even shorter. People who used to be so much shorter than me, just sprung up, and then I was no longer one of the tall ones. :p

I think its probably a good height to be at. I think average height is probably 5'5ish. Either way, it doesn't matter much to me what height a person is. We all come in many different shapes and sizes. And a lot of times I've noticed how short people wanna be tall, and tall people wanna be short. Its whatever to me really. I guess as long as everything is in proportion with your body. ;)
