Is it normal that people in aa

I have been going to AA and Celebrate Recovery for a few months now and I like it. Most the people there are nice to me, but I feel like most of them look down to me because Im only 24. Is it normal to feel like they don't like me because Im so young?

They're the least judgment people you will ever meet.

It may be they are having a difficult time relating with u. 24 is not too young to go to AA. Anyone can become an alcoholic at any age so I wouldn't feel inferior compared to them in any way. At least u are seeking help now, instead of waiting until you're 50.

Why do they call it the AA, when the first thing you do when getting there is stand up and say "hi my name is...." weird

My son just stopped drinking because his friend quit 5 years ago by attending AA. The friend told him while he was getting sober he will think all kinds of weird things. Don't quit. There is a drunk world and a sober world. The sober world is better. Been there, done that.

  • The halls of AA & NA are full of self-centered people trying to get better. They are usually to wrapped up in their own heads to be thinking about YOU! What really bothers them is when a 'new-be' comes in with NO understanding or clean time and start running their head. Keep your comments to yourself and LISTEN!!

Maybe you don't like them because of their age. Don't believe everything that you think! AArrs love it when you people make it through the doors. It's another life potentially saved

I joined AA when I was 16 :) I know how you feel and just remember, it's none of your business what they think, just keep your side of the street clean :)

I agree with Mercedes... Sounds like a jealousy thing. OR you could be over exaggerating this (being a lil paranoid) either way...who cares!! Youre doing great, thats all that matters.

No they are probably just disappointed that they didnt straighten up their lives at age 24 like you and have their whole lives ahead of them. Thats your benefit: you caught and took care of your problem early. Everyone is cheering you on. Congrats.
