Is it normal that people here try too hard to be politically correct?

I don't buy this apparent tolerance and understanding from people on this site because everybody has a different opinion and some kind of personal bias will always alter ones view on a certain topic. I believe people only do this to gain popularity and appreciation from other users, positive votes and an audience. Let's just stop with the hypocrisy and say what's on our mind for once!

Just because you're intolerant, doesn't mean everyone else is secretly intolerant too. Believe it or not, not everyone is a dick :P

Is anyone really pretending they are? You presume everyone is an intolerant cunt, and everyone who doesn't look like an intolerant cunt is a hypocrite and a good liar.

I don't know whether OP means people should start behaving purposely intolerant (which is a bad idea). Or whether OP means something else. But in my experience- I've run into situations irl, where almost every person I encounter behaves abusively, in some messed up ways. I would agree on the part that most people, secretly, are not nice people. Whether they seem like it or not. It's just that, nobody ever realizes people are like this, until they're in a traumatizing situation, and everyone- who would have otherwise seemed like nice people- are treating them like they're ridiculous for it. Not that that's a good thing... But I think it's understandable for a person, to feel that most people fake being nice or popular- and are actually not nice. On the other hand, people can't help but want a positive outlook, and to believe other people are nice. Because people need other people, and need social connections. (I'm not posing a solution for this, because I don't know the solution).

I mean to comment on the idea- I'm not really arguing with you specifically. I don't blame you for feeling that not everyone is a dick, and I'm not trying to change that belief. I just feel good to express to other readers, that we're not required to only see things one way. Since I often feel pressured to believe most people are nice. I'm sure that pressure makes other people uncomfortable, as well as me. Though, so far, when I've seen your comments, I liked most of them.

  • I will say what i really think with trying not to be rude. Ive been rude before trying to get points across and it doesn't work well. People are more likely to take advice from someone who can be friendly. Nobody wants to take advice from an asshole unless the advice is how to be more of an asshole.

If people are nice to me I'll be nice back.
I think it's easier to just accept that some people have different views and behave/act differently to others. That's was makes us individuals after all.

I think political correctness is the foulest form of hypocrisy. I believe it fractures a society by government edict and forces many people to act contrary to their conscience. It creates an environment of deceit and lies, and breeds mistrust.

Hello people. Being politically correct is about the equivalent of satisfying an addict. Who really sympathizes with Political Correctness, how about logical correctness. Logic does not change politics do.

All those of you around the world that are easily offended, to each of you I raise my hand to the heavens and say, "FUCK YOU. I accept and tolerate your foul criticism of me and my opinions. I expect the same tolerance from you in return. Isn't this the essence of freedom of speech?

We need more understanding and less fear of offending someone- ie political correctness.
