Is it normal that people don't like to agree with me?

I speak my mind a lot, mostly concerning my social experiments. I have these theories about why people act the way they do. My theories are based on observations that I've seen. I'm not saying that what I think is right but they're based on observations. Everyone has different experiences about people because of how they were treated by others. I can respect that. However, I hate when people tell me that I'm "stupid" for believe in "this." Anyways it seems that whenever I propose a theory, everyone seems to look at me like I'm from another planet. My friend one time came into a conversation and stated her opinion about what we were talking about, then looked embarrassed when i said to her "thank you for proving me right, i appreciate it."I don't believe i said it in a cocky way. Is this behavior normal among social groups?

Speaking your mind is a gift. However, a more important gift is eloquence. If you are able to form your opinions and thoughts into coherent theses that meets these characteristics (listed), there should be no reason for people not to appreciate or respect your viewpoint. That being said, everyone has an opinion and 9/10 someone will disagree with you.

People do not like to think! When you try to speak with most people about observations or theories they either give you a blank stare, change the subject, avoid the conversation, or nod and agree even though they don't understand.

To communicate with them you must stoop to their level and talk about getting drunk and what restaurants have the BEST food....

I agree - particularly in social situations.

Once you outgrow the student life and have to deal with the harsh realities of life, deep thinking belongs in the deep dark distant past. The time for that is in the confines of classrooms or corridors, when these things seem important.

When you get older they just seem pretentious and have all been argued to death 10-20 years before.

You even sound cocky to me. Then again, I'm imagining you speaking with Draco Malfoy's voice. Then again, I imagine everyone speaking with Draco Malfoy's voice.
