You can try drinking coffee with it. The caffeine in the coffee will increase the effectiveness of some medications. I know caffeine will work for Tylenol, but I don't know about Advil.
Oh no :( that's really shitty. I don't vomit, I get sleep paralysis and hallucinations. Seems an odd definition of "allergy". Yours seems more like an allergy than mine to me. But meh. I'm no doctor.
In my family pain medication doesn’t help us. Over the counter pain meds don’t do anything for us and the harder ones cause panic attacks night terrors and other issues. When I broke my leg I couldn’t have any pain meds cause the last thing you want is a panic attack while have your leg broken.
NSAIDs such as ibuprofen are less effective on certain types of pain(such as stomach pain), but they work ok to good on musculoskeletal pain. The maximum recommended dose of ibuprofen is 800 mg per dose i believe. A 400 mg dose of ibuprofen does nothing for me.
i'm not sure exactly what goes into the medication you listed so i can't be exact, but it could be a few things.
one possible cause is that you have a high tolerance to pain medication, which can occur naturally, via taking high doses a lot in the past, or via your mother taking high doses while she was pregnant with you.
another cause is that you just might not be taking a high enough dosage for the pain?
and finally, some kinds of painkillers just might not work on you (hence my comment at the start on ingredients). i don't know why it happens, but paracetamol doesn't work on me whatsoever. i can take a ton and it won't kill any pain.
Same, I occasionally take something in the hope of a placebo effect but it never works.
It depends on what kind of pain and where it is located. Can you give more details?
Either you've used them so much your body doesn't respond to them anymore, or your pain is stronger than they are able to work for.
I've been told the strongest painkiller you can get in the USA without going to pain management is tramadol. I find it shit, but my doctor says my response to it indicates an allergy. Then again, everyone I know who has taken it has said it was worse than useless.
Go to your doctor. Pain can also be managed in other ways than painkillers. Depending on the type of pain and its cause, you may find that using alternative strategies help you cope, with or without your current painkillers or stronger ones.
