Is it normal that nothing i do is good enough?

Is it normal that nothing I do is good enough in my eyes. I am extremely hard to please, especially by me. For example, I just reached a goal at work, giving 250% of what the company wanted. (Although my goal was higher). I'm so mad at myself for not achieving more. My subordinates say I'm difficult to work for and my boss says I focus too much on things I can't change. Is it wrong to expect a lot from myself and others?

Never satisfied huh? Critical of others? Wanting to do better? Feeling like no one can do as good of a job as you?

I think it's a good and bad thing, your motivated and productive, which is great! But as you've stated.. your co-workers find you difficult to work with. (Which can be counter-productive) and your boss said you focus on things you can't change.. which sounds like your desire to achieve may a bit excessive/unnecessary for the type work you do? Maybe you need a new career, one that is more challenging? I also think it would be a good idea to work on your interpersonal communication skills.

I agree with Poptart who put it perfectly. Being a perfectionist often means you are tough on yourself and never satisfied, but it's unfair to expect the impossible of others and do you ever stop to praise them and let them know that they have done well. People will enjoy working with you and for you if they feel their efforts are appreciated.

Hey at least your perfectionism actually drives you to action. I am such a perfectionist that sometimes I would rather do nothing than do something less than perfect. This perception of myself is driving me loony!
At least I recognize the problem though I guess--that's a start.
You too by the way. Just stating it here means that you are concerned and aware of a problem.

The first comment is dead on. I supervise managers and the ones that drive me nuts are the ones like you. Being driven is a great thing, but don't take it to the point where nobody likes you, including yourself. It isn't worth it.
