Is it normal that my young father sleeps all day and doesn't care?

For as long as I can remember, my father(who's rather young, he had me when he was 20) has always slept all day whenever he could (had no work, I mean) and never really took time to do things with me when we're home alone together. Even when I was a child(and I mean like a really young child, 5 and up) he didn't really get up and I had to make all my food myself until supper(then he would wake up).

He never got up in time when I wanted to do things, for example, one time when I was around 7 my aunt wanted to bring me to Christmas parade and she only wanted my dad to bring me to her house before 1 o'clock pm. He never did, and I could only watch him and do nothing as he simply slept through the whole day.

When I was still a child I would try to wake him up, but I quickly stopped doing that because he would get mad at me no matter how I did it. For my whole life (I still live there with him and my stepmom, I'll move out one day) I always relied on him to bring me to events, the local comic con, my friend's house, etc., but he never really did and I always missed everything. I love him a lot, but I wish he would just wake up and spend time with me.

Anyway, long post, I know, but I had to explain my stuff. I'm sorry for any grammatical mistakes, English is not my native language, please correct me, etc.

Depressed/lazy/drug addicted? I feel sad for you, he's an idiot for missing out on all those things he could've done with you.

He must be awake sometimes: have you tried talking to him about your feelings?

Yes I have, I think he understand how I feel and he might even feel a little guilty, but he doesn't really change.
