Is it normal that my stomach hurts...

Once every few months I wake up with excruciating pain in my stomach. The pain is so bad that I nearly have to crawl to the washroom. Sometimes I'll be screaming in agony. When I get to the toilet I'll sit down and something in my stomach feels like it's doing a revolution. As it nears the revolution I'll start pouring sweat and soon after pass out. I wake up soaked in sweat, very cold and very weak.

Also after I wake up the toilet is full of waste. It's sometimes been black in color. It's very loose diarrhea. Sorry about being graphic.

Other times I'll feel the same way at night crawl to the bathroom, sit on the toilet, go through the same sweating and passing out and wake up with vomit all over me or on the floor in front of toilet.

This has happened where I passed out on my way to the bathroom and actually fell, broke ribs and suffered a major concussion.

I'm a 29 y/o male, fairly fit. Anyone heard about this before? I've talked to doctors and they can't help me

Sorry about the long post.

this exact thing has happened to me before, so don't feel alone. I was at a vacation home and all of a sudden i got a huge pain in my stomach and i cudnt move, i went to the bathroom and just ended up passin out and when i looked at myself in the mirror i was the palest i have EVER been. But after that time, i never had it again. I know a nurse in the ICU so i'll ask her and get back to you.

Please see a different doctor immediately and let them know that you have black stools and pass out! You could have something very serious. Don't put it off. Better to be safe than sorry.

At first I thought constipation and then food poisoning, but if that was the case I'm sure they would've realised by now. Maybe, this is a genetic condition? Have they done any other tests beside blood?

Yes the dr said he thought it may be celiac disease but nothing came of it after the blood tests. Just seen another dr and he said may be a problem with twisting stomach. Colonoscopy is next, not looking forward to that!

You could have Celiac Disease. I was diagnosed 2 years ago. You simply MUST go to the gastroenterologist as soon as you can. I simple blood test is the start to getting on the right track to a diagnosis. Good luck, and feel better soon.

Thanks guys for the prompt replies. Yes when it happens just before I pass out my face is a green very pale color. I live with gf so she has to smack me awake and hold me from falling over. It is the most frightening feeling when I start to sweat that much by standing still and feel myself beginning to pass out. It truly feels like I'm going to die. I've never felt afraid in my life as I do when this happens to me. When it happens when I'm alone I don't think I'll wake up after the episode.

This also happened when I was in Afghanistan, there's nothing worse than breaking ribs and suffering a major concussion out in the middle of nowhere in the panjwai district. Noone can help, u just take it and hope u get through it because you really can't function during these episodes. I feel so weak for a couple days after. Like I was beaten to an inch of my life lol.

Doctors can't help me, I've went a few times, got blood work and nothing came of it.

  • once about a year ago i suddenly got a pain in the rear lol, anyhow it was strong and felt circular , like something going round and getting bigger. i thought it must be an immediate huge straining poo ready to explode my bottom. it got worse and worse the short way to the bathroom. i could barely walk, i sat down expecting a huge mass or at least the runs but nothing, there was nothing there! i suddenly felt very nauseus, sweaty and like i was going pass out sitting there. i staggered around for a bit then the feeling went away after about 1 hour but the aching where it had been lingered for about 6 hours. spasm i'm told.
i'm mentioning this cause of the revolution and symptoms sound a little similar, might be a twisted bowel or something. definately keep chasing a diagnosis it sounds dangerous for you
