Is it normal that my sneeze set off a panic attack?

Yesterday I was coming home from work after spending an hour at the gym. I'm getting over a cold, and sometimes after getting off the treadmill I get very sneezy.

I had a few really large sneezes and after the third or fourth it was getting harder to focus on the road. The idea of losing control of my car creeped into my head and suddenly I could feel a panic attack coming on. I kept telling myself that everything was fine and I felt fine but my body wouldn't listen. I quickly got off on an exit because I felt like I was going to pass out. I was looking for a safe place to pull over but then finally got myself together.

I have had a panic attack before but I don't get them often and this was the first one in many years.

  • That was the right choice to pull over until you'd calmed down. It wasn't really the sneeze that set off your panic attack; it was the idea of losing control. Maybe you've been under a lot more pressure/stress as of late?

I've been known to have farting attacks. I'll get home and notice skid marks all over
