I have these few scars on my arm from 3-4 months ago and they were somewhat deep- I don't know how to describe them. I guess they poof out a bit? Anyway, they'll randomly start itching...I'll be doing something like playing video games and they'll start tingling and they itch. I don't really know what to do. Is this normal ??
my scars i have from being stabbed with a knife multiple times still itch randomly every blue moon , i have had them for about 3 years i think now and still this happens ... if you find out a real answer id like to know thanks :)
U r probably getting scar keloid formation just apply a steroid containing cream and ur itch will go
If a scar is large, there are treatments intended to reduce the itch. A doctor can freeze the scar with liquid nitrogen and then inject it with cortisone.
It might reduce the itch, but then there's the strong possibility of freeze blisters.
For me, it took a year and a half of shots every few months before the itch went away. The blisters were very messy, and the scars were on my back where I needed help to apply bandages.
It's therefore a choice between the lesser of two evils
Wound healing is a long process, the final step of which is a kind of "remodelling" of the skin. This causes sensations in the nerve endings which you detect as itchiness. It's entirely normal and nothing to worry about.
However, if an old wound starts to look puffy or feels like it's getting hot, see your doctor.
It's sooo normal. I had back surgery. It itched for months. It's the healing process.
Usually it's healing, but some very old scars, with more than six or seven years old, itch mysteriously too. Normal.
