Is it normal that my roommates extremely piss me off?

So my 3 roommates piss me off so incredibly bad at times, for example they never take out the trash or recycling and I came home after being away for the weekend and the whole apartment smelled like rotten food! how can anyone live in that and not think "gee maybe I should take out the trash since its over flowing and is stinking up the whole place"? They do not clean anything and almost expect me to pick up after them like their maid, like i'm lower than them. I don't say anything because I have to live with them a lot longer and don't want to jeopardize our friendship/living climate. It's come to the point where I am embarrassed to bring guests to our apartment. Is it normal to get so infuriated or am I overreacting?

    Im a guy and i cant stand living in filth and disorder. I guess im a neat freak. This is why its hard for me to room. Do they clean the dishes after themselves. Thats my main pet peeve! Wow im getting mad just writing this

    if you say nothing they will assume you are good with it and won't change.

    Remember... if you're on the lease you have a right to have a clean place.

    And if they trash it... you can get evicted if the landlord/lady finds out. or lose out on your deposit

    You know. I was thinking of renting one of my parent's apartments with my cousin and some of my friends. They loved the idea but, I realized it wasn't going to happen, when I remembered how their rooms are.

    They don't make the beds, they throw thrash under the beds, they leave everything anywhere and never pick it up, they don't wash the dishes. Plus, they listen to reggaeton all day, with the volume all the way up -.-.

    Sometimes, it is better to be alone.

    And you, or you move out and find other roommates, or just stay there with them making your life impossible.

    If you all contribute a few bucks per week you could get a cleaner in.

      The funny thing is that we live in apartments owned by our university so they have a cleaning person come in once a month, but it's only once a month cleaning in necessary more often than that! When the whole place smells rotten, something is seriously wrong.

        Why not set up a rota of things to do - or just the rule that everyone cleans up after themselves, eg, their own dishes, washing down shower / bath after themselves? Don't be afraid to speak up, otherwise you'll end up cleaning up after that lot for years!

        When my husband makes dinner I a duty bound to clean up afterwards, and vice versa.

    arrrr my housemates drive me crazy too ... but for different reasons.... lease runs out in july hurryyyyy upppp im the same just stay calm n dont react cuz like u sed gota live together for a while longer :/

    you probly have different standards, u like it clean and they dont like it enough to do it themselves, they mightn't expect u to do it but theyre happy u do. incompatible

    I live with 5 people, two other girls and three guys, the girls I like but two of the guys are extremely messy/dirty and sexist. It took us a month just to get the one guy to pay his share of the water bill.
    I tried to get along with them but after a few weeks I've had enough of it.
    They're shit scared of our landlord though and of not having anywhere to live, so whenever things get too overbearing or their mess has been left around for too long we just threaten to call the landlord. It always works.

      Its not a dorm. We all have our own rooms and kitchen,bathroom, livingroom. Bit different.
