Is it normal that my professor keeps asking me out?

I'm a senior in college and one of my professors has asked me out four times. The first two, he was being subtle but I knew what he was asking and turned him down. It's extremely frowned upon to date students and I told him so and yet he asked me out twice more. It isn't a matter of looks or anything along those lines. He's pretty attractive. What bothers me is the ethics of it all, he doesn't seem to care that he could lose his job if anyone found out (not that i would explicitly make it known that he asked me out). And I'm simply not interested in going on a date with him, and he doesn't seem to get that either. The last time he asked me out, two days ago, he told me, "You don't have to play hard to get, you know?" and i made it clear i wasn't interested. How would anyone get him to back off? Comments welcome.

I agree with you. Its almost as if he's harrassing you too. I mean, you're his student(!), he's asked you more than once, is he ever gonna get the picture?

Maybe you should just explain to him that you don't think its a good idea. The thought of it makes you feel uncomfortable, and that you're very sorry, but you're just not interested.

No, it isn't normal. What he's doing is harassment. Talk to a dean or another administrator about this.

Fuck that shit, college is hard enough. You're the one paying to be there and he's getting paid.

You could be upfront and tell him to stuff it, depending on how dependent you are on him for grades. Or you could make up an excuse. Tell him you'd love to talk but you have to go to the shooting range/VD clinic/MMA dojo to pick up your boyfriend/fiancee.

You could always do the slutty thing and get an A+ for the class.

Just make sure you're being upfront, and firm.

So did you tell him? Tell him that you have a boyfriend.

Tell him that you're getting married or you could make a complaint to the school.

That's really disturbing =/ This could be considered harassment, I think you could get him into a lot of trouble for it. It doesn't seem like you're out for blood, but if you're uncomfortable I think you should tell him that.

Either tell someone who has authority like the dean or if you don't want to do that write him a letter simply saying "dear professor no I am not interested in dating you. Please leave me alone or im telling the dean." and stick it on his door or desk

Isn't there some rule that says no teacher-student relationships?

The professor is a professional and should act that way. You wouldn't want your doctor or lawyer asking you out, right? It's unethical, and he is taking advantage of a power imbalance.

It doesn't seem like he's taking your feelings into account. You're obviously uncomfortable about the situation, he should see that. This makes him look bad already.
