Is it normal that my posts aren't getting approved anymore?

i think it has something to do with is it normal gold... I ask legitimate questions that i would really appreciate answers to and sometimes i put a lot of effort into the imagery of my posts because i enjoy writing. But it seems that the more detailed my story is, the less likely it is to be approved. Like my question of what to do about my anxiety and the strange feeling i get when my boyfriend leaves with his best friend.i see some rediculous stories on here that have no substance, so why can't mine be approved? Do i have to pay for more of my stories to go through?

That's because Allistalla is taking up 80% of the moderation queue.

But there seriously has been a decrease in quality as far as I can tell. I actually submitted two polls recently, under different accounts. One asked a serious yet lighthearted question and the other was just completely obvious trolling. The troll poll was approved and the serious one was not. I just don't get it.

    • Ugh. The majority of her questions are just plain stupid aswell, in my opinion.

You know the guidelines we're supposed to follow before submitting a poll or story? Do the complete opposite.

Well this one got approved. So congratulation!

Well, this makes me feel better.I was seriously thinking about just not even coming to this site anymore. It definitely seems like more than 30% of posts don't get approved. It just annoys me when boob questions and middle school relationship problems are approved over and over again, but things I think are legitimate questions are not.

I asked so many serious and light-hearted questions that could be helpful to more people than just me, but none of them went through.

...But when I asked if Gerard Way was an incubus, it went through :/

I don't think it's because they're too long. I've written stories that are some of the longest I've seen here, in which I've also admitted I'm underage, have an objectively dull subject matter and probably very similar to one that exists already if I trawled the site looking for it. I've never had a story refused, no matter what, and I've broken all of those cardinal sins in one single story before.

I seriously think that TheManagement should approve any story unless it is obviously bullying other users. The very worst that can happen is that a story is rubbish and nobody comments on that story, and at least no good stories with potentially interesting discussion get wrongly turned down. That's just my opinion though :P

Advice to anyone who wants to post a story or poll: copy-paste it into a Word document and save it before you submit it. If your poll or story is rejected then you've not lost anything. Go back to your Word document and edit it. Try reading it as if you've never seen it before. Does it make sense? Might it be boring or unnecessarily long? Is it well-paragraphed and easy to read? Is it obvious what question the reader is meant to answer? In short, is there anything about it that would make you dislike it if someone else posted it?

Also, if you get any feedback from IIN Gold members before your story or poll is removed, check if anyone has a problem with the way you wrote it. If they do, for example, think you should use paragraphs, then the story is removed, go back and re-paragraph your work and submit it again.

Urgh, I just described IIN as "work". It isn't, and it isn't meant to be; it's fun :)

I have no idea. I can't be bothered submitting anymore as anything of substance doesn't get through. I'm sick of scrolling through dull posts that ge..... I just figured it out, it IS a ploy to make us get gold so we can read and comment on the interesting stories/polls. Gold members posts don't make it through either as they are too good for the cretins.

I honestly doubt that the gold members votes are even taken into consideration for moderation. I only vote disapprove on stuff that's obviously fake/stupid/fucked up. I generally don't vote for approve, unless it's obviously something that is very important to someone to get an opinion on it.

Oh. Someone suggested that if you post it enough times, it will get through regardless of content. I'm actually starting to believe it.

And I totally agree with you, moderation has gotten way more bizarre in the last few months. I don't think there is any logic to it anymore.

  • its not just you it happens to me too and i have gold, one of my stories got 20 odd comments before being disapproved, it wasnt offensive so i dont know, i do notice that if posters names are mentioned in the story it has less chance of getting thru, also a story i commented on got my interest and i was looking forward to others opinions ,it was a good story too, i am curious how many allistala must post to get the amount thru she has, must be 50

I don't always understand what gets approved and what gets denied, but I'm in the same position as anyone else who posts on this site. We're not moderators and so we don't know the reasons. If you ask TheManagement, though, you'll be talking to someone who does know.

Same here, I asked which do you say addictive or addicting (with no details) and it was denied. I was confused by that, how is that bad? I sometimes think it is set on random.

i am quite certain it is :P
it's the only reasonable explanation for "double-approvements" of the SAME post, with the SAME headline, in the SAME category.

If a real human would moderate them, he'd let ONE through and bin the other. (most of those stories, i'd personally bin both copies, but lets be "neutral" about this.)
It would also explain WHY people do that(double-posting exactly the same stuff...

Unless more than one person is moding.

but then, i'd expect them to mod different "topics", or be somehow coordinated, or, even if working in parallel, "see" somehow what the other mods work on(so they don't read the same thing double), and leave something with exactly the same title and almost directly after the post before alone so the mod working on THAT can bin it.

Na, either the mods are a rather unorganized bunch(no offense) or there's a random factor in there.

That's because clearly, saying "addicting" makes you sound like a twelve year old.

True. It was going to be a slam on people that say addicting. I hate that shit. But they had no way of knowing that at the time.

Talk to TheManagement. IIN Gold has nothing to do with the stories you post or what gets approved. Perhaps moderators don't like you.

So it seems. It's like only my most trivial posts are accepted... Maybe i write too much? I tend to over-explain things sometimes. I never had this problem before IIN gold existed, though.

My questions ranged from sexual stuff to political stuff and initially all got approved. My last question got rejected and that was about a member though I saw many other questions about members being approved so...

I'd love the mods to say which criteria wasn't met for the post to be rejected.

I've given up trying to get stuff moderated, I created a few polls and they got put up then all of a sudden anything I created just silently disappeared.

Same. I think maybe IIN don't like long posts cuz they think people will get bored but I often post long stories with alot of detail which don't get through, even if they ae drama-a-go-go. For instance, I tried to sumbit a story about how I got with my medically schizophrenic ex's best friend and how things worked out with both of them, obviously there was a lot to the story and it was well written with a clear IIN question and it didn't get through. I'm getting really pissed off and starting to think IIN has become elitist, except it's not the elite who are getting through, it's the boring IIN I like the smell of my own farts kind of posts. I'm seriously thinking of starting a competing website because there's obviously a lot of demand for this kind of website but IMO management have totally taken it in the wrong direction.
