Is it normal that my parents said nasty things about me?

When my ex and I had an argument, out of despair, he rang and spoke to my parents. Amongst other things my parents said to him
- that I never deserved him, or was worthy of him
- that he was an idiot for putting up with me for so many years
- that I must have found someone else (my ex knew this wasn't true)

Do you think it is normal to speak of their children like this? I suspect that they said these things in order to calm my ex down, but then again it could be that they really meant those things?

    Well your parents are clearly pricks. Lots of us have bitchy parents. Its not you. Its not normal but it happens.

    Obviously they like you ex very much. But no matter what. family should always have other family members backs before that members significant other. No way you look at it is this okay to say. But I do have one question. How do you know this is what they said? If your ex told you that then it is most likely a lie.

        well listen here. that's not cool to say. im sure your a great person and obviously they have a hardon for your ex. ever seen the movie "cable guy"? yea. keep your chin up!

    I don't think they meant it. They only think that it would help you, but you have your own rights and freedom! You have independence, so let your parents go! Now, go get your man!
