I've been wanting a pair of TOMS for a few months now. My parents are VERY old fashioned. They think that they look "gay" and "faggotish". They don't understand and are completely oblivious to the fact that those are in style. I'm a straight guy who I guess you can consider a "metrosexual." Is it Normal that my parents do this?
Yes it's normal. Your parents grew up in a different time. What they called "cool" would now be considered out of date. They probably just don't want you to go through some sort of bullying that kids back then went through for being gay. In a way they're looking out for you. Just obey your parents and they'll get off your case.

NO its NOT normal at all. I have TOMS and they are so awesome made comfortable I now ONLY wear them. My best friend got TOMS first and he had 2 pairs so after asking and trying on a pair I liked em alot. When we went to the mall i wore one of his pairs and girls really liked seeing 2 guys wearing TOMS. I asked my mom and got my first pair and since then i now have every color in the mens classics and im working on getting every color in the cordones and botas too. At my school all the girls (70 to 80% wear TOMS) and so do the guys (about 40 to 50%)so TOMS are catching on. Oh and for prom practically every couple is wearing TOMS too.
Maybe they won't let you wear Toms because HE ISN'T FINISHED WITH THEM YET...!!!!!

I don't agree with your parents reasoning for not letting you get them, but they are hideous.
I don't even class them as shoes: they look like slippers!

Ya, I don't think they are that nice. It looks like someone just folded some fabric and glued a bottom on. The only reason I would say get a pair anyway, is because they donate one pair for every pair sold
Your rents are right, TOMS are gay. You should thank them from saving you from this trend.
