Is it normal that my own wrists piss me off?

My wrists tend to piss me off. When I grab them and the feeling of them in my hand makes me so pissed off. It gets to the point where I wanna cut my wrists off and I start crying because of my wrists. My girlfriend says that I'm just weird and need mental help. Btw I'm not a guy.. So is it normal?

Can be a sign of borderline personality disorder. Do you have feelings of feelings of unreality and emptiness (dysphoria)when you are pissed at your wrists? If so go talk to a shrink. Or is it a physical thing, that you think your wrists are ugly or something?

  • Errm I'm quite fond of my wrists so I can't really provide ya with any support BUT I don't think my wrists like me. The reason being because whenever I'm angry or extremely emotional I twist my wrist so hard to the point where I feel like they're going to snap at any minute. I've had a few marks on them.

I love how this story has got no helpful comments at all, just "that reminds me of..." followed by a deviation from the topic. So I'll follow suit.

This reminds me of a strange, mildly amusing anecdote. It'll probably bore you, but feel free to read it. That's what it's here for.

I had a psychology teacher once, and she was fucking terrified of wrists. I'm being totally serious. Show her your wrists and she'd seriously freak out. She'd sometimes forget to set homework after that as well, so you can imagine how most lessons ended. Anyway, eventually she went to see someone at a phobia clinic about it, and it got totally sorted. In a matter of weeks, absolutely fine. No wrist issues at all. She even went off and covered her wrists in tattoos, as a reminder not to be afraid of them any more, which I thought was great.

Some things about my body piss me off too. Please, don't chop of your wrists! You'll regret it, because you won't be able to do allot of stuff without them. If be in your same situation, but I can't say it was with my wrists.

Maybe, you should try cutting? If you do, don't cut too deep!

OMG Why on earth would you EVER suggest cutting to someone?!? That's terrible! Please do not follow that advice!!

Im so sorry! I really didn't mean for it to be taken that way! I was sort of doing a comparison. Lets say that you cut, at least you would still have your wrists. Wouldnt you rather have your wrists than not have them? I was thinking in deep thought.

I would never try to get somone hurt! Please forgive me im really sorry.... Sometimes i fail to see past the dark.

I just think its a horrible habit, but that's mired in personal past. (Not myself, but soooo many friends) I've heard many arguments for the benefits, but I just really don't agree with them. If it's about venting, go to a shooting range, or chop down a tree with an axe or something.

For the OP - try wearing things like wrist-warmers, fingerless gloves, etc :) Covering your hated wrists could become a fashion statement!

Also, don't worry Avant-Garde, you're forgiven. I just thought the "I want to chop them off" bit was hyperbole, and didn't warrant cutting :P

Actually, I'm the same way. I always wear bracelets or wrist bands so I don't have to see me wrists.
