Is it normal that my mum accompanies me to the dr? i'm almost 19.

My mum refuses to let me see the doctor by myself. If I ask to go alone she makes an excuse to come with me, and wont take no for an answer. If I say I want to go alone she demands to know why.

I can't just go by myself because she has my health care card, and I can't see a doctor without it. I just want to be able to go alone, no specific reason. Is this normal?

    Wow. She's overbearing huh. Maybe she thinks you're not mature or responsible enough? Are you female? She could think you have secrets about sex and being pregnant or something.

    She needs to understand that you're a big boy/girl and are perfectly capable of going alone. When she demands to know why you want to go alone tell her you're not a frikkin baby, and that she's hindering your independence.

    If your on her health plan I don't see anything wrong with it. If your are paying your own way she wouldn't even know about any appointments.
