Is it normal that my mother bathed me till i was 12?

She also dressed and undressed me like I was a doll. I guess I already know the answer to this but has this happened to anyone else or have you heard it happen to someone else?

She's mentally ill (I'm a girl) and I was afraid to stand up to her until then. Actually the only reason I did was because I went fishing with my dad and when we got back home she was waiting for me. I was hoping my dad would help me since it was the only time he was really there to witness it but he just stood there and laughed when I tried to say no. I truly felt alone after that and knew I couldn't count on anyone but myself.

:( Yup, growing up like this is horrible. It can twist the way you think, and you wouldn't even notice it.

No offense but that's a bit odd. But it's not your fault, you don't seem like a bad person. My gram and uncle have a strange relationship. She washed his hair when he was way old enough to do it himself..hah.

this is the best post ever. keep telling stories, i'll start a campfire. you could make short stories or songs about it i bet. unless you would rather not think about it, which is understandable.

    • haha. Every day after school when I came home she'd wash my feet in the sink. I would have to go to "our" room after. I honestly can't remember a lot but I remember I was too afraid to leave the room because she wanted me to stay in there.

She had this obsession with picking up loose hairs on the carpet and she'd always run her hands through my hair for an hour or so after I took a shower to get every last loose one out.

    • I lived with my parents, grandma, uncle, and two brothers. We only had four rooms, one for my grandma (it was her house), uncle, two brothers, and the last one was occupied by my mother and me. My dad was never really home and he usually slept on the floor in my brothers room, maybe on the couch sometimes. (He snores loudly so I think that's another reason he didn't sleep with my mom).

I was around 13 when I was sick of it and wanted my own place to sleep away from her. The night it happened we were in the dining room and she told me it was time to go to bed. I told her no, that I wanted my own place to sleep and suggested the couch.

She got irritated and grabbed my wrist really hard and said, "Let's go!" I was really scared because she was hurting me a little and she looked crazy, especially in the dark but I just kept saying no hoping she would give up. She finally said fine and I got to sleep on the couch from then on, but it didn't last long.

(This part has nothing to do with anyone. If you don't believe in ghosts or spirits than you'll probably think I'm bullshitting! I'd also like to add that this has happened to my dad and brother so I know I'm not crazy. ;P )

My grandma had a grandfather clock in the living room. Every night I would wake up just before it went off at the same time. My blanket would always be on the floor next to me. I even tried wrapping it around me to see if I was just overreacting, but every night it would be on the floor. I would hear creaking going on the the kitchen. (Scared the shit out of me!) Then after awhile the lights would turn on or I'd get so scared I'd run for them. I remember walking to the kitchen and all of the wooden doors would be open. I only lasted a week if that and went back into my mom's room xD.

Everyone in the house said it was my grandpa. They said they sometimes heard footsteps walking down the hallway at night or a coin would drop out of nowhere.

strange parallels. i lived in a haunted house with my schizophrenic grandmother, mom, brother, and cousin. i think she gave my cousin baths until he was probably about 8 or 9 years old.

  • I'm not sure when this happened I believe I was still really young but this is what my dad told me. (She is schizophrenic)

One night my mom was hallucinating that my dad was the devil. He was trying to calm her down but she kept freaking out and running away from him. She ran outside and my dad chased after her. My dad said it was about 2 or 3AM. She was screaming that the devil was after. He chased her till 6am-ish when it started getting light out. A few blocks away a neighbor was cleaning his car (he had two cars) and she jumped inside and locked the door. My dad finally caught her and took her home before the cops came.

Also another story my dad told me was when I was a baby he was feeding me and my mom came at him with a knife. While I was in his arms!

Not going to lie, you're dad sounds like a great guy if he can deal with your mom. Have you thought about talking to your mom about how her behavior is affecting you. I think that there is a part of her that truly loves you but is clouded by her schizophrenia.

Are you kidding me? She is obviously sick. If he was a "great dad" he would have gotten her mom help. Or at the least gotten her the hell away such a dangerous situation. Her mother could have killed her...

      • Yeah I agree, that's just what I thought at the time it happened. I just never got to see him growing up. It seemed like he was never at home and always working.

He actually stayed with her because we were living with my grandma and my uncle on my moms side and he didn't want to abandon my grandma.

I have tried but she doesn't really understand. She denies it and acts childish. I can't blame her.. I've let it go. :)

    • I have plenty more good ones where that came from!

I remember one day my mom told me to come outside to the backyard with her. She was acting really weird, talking fast I didn't understand what she was saying, and then she told me to stare at the sun. I didn't do it because I knew it was bad, but she kept getting angry so I stared at it but kind of to the bottom so that she would think I was doing it.
