Is it normal that my mom isn't very maternal?

I hear a lot about how there are Moms who would fight lions and wolves for their kids or who would do anything to protect their kids. I have a lot of friends whose Moms would jump in front of bullets to protect their kids.

My Mom wasn't a bad Mom (she fed us and any wounds she left me were flesh wounds and she allowed me to live in her house, gave me furniture and a TV so it could have been way worse), but there were instances in which I was bullied, sexually harassed at school, beaten by my father or my sister was hit by her boyfriend, bullied by her room mates and by my family, she didn't really give a shit. My Dad touched my privies and beat my sister and I until we lost consciousness and she didn't care one bit. I have gotten ill for months, been in a car accident, she barely batted an eyelash.

Is it normal for my Mom not to have maternal instincts?

Your father molests you, beats you and your sister?

AND ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS HOW MUCH YOUR MOTHER LOVES YOU?

WHAT THE FUCk. GET HELP. NOW. CALL THE COPS. CALL THE SCHOOL COUNSELLOR, ANYONE THAT CAN GET YOUR FATHER AWAY FROM YOU.

Your mom is not the main problem here, It is your dad.

Are you a male or female?

You bet your ass that your father sexually molested your sister as well.

What the fuck do they teach you in school nowadays?

GET YOUR DAD LOCKED UP. SERIOUS.

If you don't get that serious fucked up shit away from you right now, you will grow up a seriously fucked up
    person.

None of these is your fault, not yet. GET OUT WHEN YOU ARE STILL YOUNG.

I am going to assume you want to grow up rich, fulfilled and happy with just a dent in your childhood. THEN DO WHAT I SAY! HELP YOURSELF!

I hope all the best for you.

    Sincerely,

Some dude who rages over what has happened to you.

If the OP and their sister were molested as children and are now adults, there's no point in pressing charges. They can't prove that the father did abuse them.
If their mother would have known at the time and had a maternal instinct, she would have castrated him and dragged his ass into jail.

What if she had no idea what to do? You said your father beat you and touched you, maybe she was afraid of him because he'd done the same to her. You've been in a car accident, but if you've handled your father then a car crash would be nothing. It's possible that maybe she is not as apathetic as you think, but sees that you're strong enough to not need any assistance. That you're strong enough to not be pushed around by life. I'll admit that she sounds very cold though.

On the other hand, and I mean to disrespect by this. Could you imagine your father raping your mother? If so, then perhaps she merely feels that she must take care of you and nothing more. Maybe she sees your father in you and is reminded of the circumstances to which you and your sis were born.

However, I'd bet my option on the first reason to explain her behavior. Also, I'm sorry if I used any mean words or offended anyone. I'm really sorry.

    • No, my Father did not abuse my Mother and my Mother will directly admit this. She hates him, they are divorced, but she was not abused by him. My Father did not rape my Mother. Her main complaint was, of all things, that he wasn't interested in having sex with her. He was a porn addict.

She rarely spent enough time at home to be hit by anyone, much less my father.

In that case your mother is a horrible person. I don't think the first part of my response really applies anymore.
