Is it normal that my mom doesn't like the idea of me having kids?

Everytime I mention ever having kids my mom tells me there is no need and to stop talking about things that will probably never happen. It's not like I'm in my 50's and my chances are gone. I'm actually young. Anybody elses mom like this?

    Maybe she hates you.
But she just doesn't want you to suffer as much.

Well it's your womb not hers? N are you even married or capable of financially taking care of a baby?

It's possible that your mom just isn't ready for you to grow up yet. Some parents get like that.

Well, mine is. She has never asked when I would give her a grandchild when I was married, and before and after that she has never encouraged me in any way to have children. Actually, she always says something along the lines of "God forbid" or "knock on wood" when I joke about it or even mention it... I also don't fully understand, but I sort of do. And I'm fine with it.

OP, in your case, does it upset you?

It sounds as though you are not dating and your mom had a hard time bringing her own children up. She may be blunt but you may be bringing up bad memories for her :o( To say there is no need, is trying to save you the hard work and not to just go along with societies rules.

Certainly if you are dating or even married, she's letting you know that you will not be leaving them with her to babysit.

There may be another reason. You should ask her why?

She probably doesn't want any grandchildren.

    That's really weird.
Do you think she could be jealous that her time for having kids is over?
Some women (esp the older generation) define themselves through their fertility and can get really weird post-menopause.
