Is it normal that my mom did this?
Since a few weeks ago I was planning on making chocolate treats for my boyfriend of 1 year and 2 months for Valentine's day. So, my mom, knowing that I've done this for my previous boyfriends, bought a red, heart shaped box and some of those mini paper cupcake holders for me to use. She set it on the table and told me about them, so I said thanks.
Then, on Tuesday night while I was't home (3 days before Valentine's), she had taken the ingredients and slopped together some carelessly made chocolate, used all the paper cups, and put them in the red box. I did not know about this until the next day when my boyfriend came over and she presented the box of chocolates to him (2 DAYS EARLY) in front of me, saying "look! I made chocolate for you!" He reacted by being surprised, smiled and said "awww", and thanked her a lot before giving her a big hug. Meanwhile I just stood there in disbelief. My mom even had the nerve to ask me what I think of the chocolate by giving me one that didn't fit. It tasted awful. Now I don't have a gift for my boyfriend and it's the morning of Valentine's day. We are supposed go on a date and I know he is going to give me a nice gift. He is such a nice guy and is also my best friend. I was really looking forward to giving him something special that I put effort into and this is just wrong. I am so insulted and hurt by this that I don't even know what to do. How would you react if you were in this situation?
