Is it normal that my memory is bad?

I'm really good at understanding things when I'm learning about them, but I forget very quickly
One example is in history. I did extremely well in US History and I knew everything down to the little details as I was learning it. But now I barely remember any of it and its only been a year! I understand that I wont be able to remember every detail but I can't even remember things about the last thing I learned last year. It happens in other subjects too but history is really important to me beause I'm studying political science in college and Im really interested in history.
It's also things outside of school, like I can't remember what happens in movies like a month or so after seeing them, even if ive seen them numerous times.
sometimes I can't even remember things that happened to me a couple years ago. Like I couldnt remember that I ran cross country my first two years of high school(im a senior). I knew I ran xc I just couldnt remember for how long.
It's just more annoying than anything.
IIN? and is there any way to help me remember things?

You need to grow your hair out. You need more room in your skull for your brain to work well.

Well, after a year, I would forget too. I have trouble learning in the first place, but trying to remember things after a month, or over a year? Forget about it.
It's normal for me, to forget things like that, but I think I'm just a little slow. So hope you find a good answer for your question. =]

Most people do not retain knowledge they learned a year ago. People who use it on daily bases usually know and retain it. Its like they say "Dont use you and you lose it".

They probably study it in spare time. Its not like you need school to teach you everything. Some people learn it as a hobby. Also some people(Rarely) have a photographic memory.

Yeah if you're disciplined enough to do it regularly you will see improvement.

  • I often have trouble remembering things like what I had for dinner yesterday. Everyone forgets things after years.

Do you sleep well? And are you possibly depressed? Supposedly these things can affect memory.

I'm in a similar boat as you but I haven't gotten my shit together to get into bed at a reasonable time. Let me know if it gets better.
