Is it normal that my libido skyrockets when i'm on a diet?

usually happens when i'm hungry - stomach growling and all that. it goes away for a while when i eat, and my libido is really diminished/normal when i'm eating too much. i'm 35 and female, and i know my sex drive is supposed to be kicking up right about now, but this seems a bit odd. it's not that i feel better about myself, it's more specific... it's the worst when i'm actually really hungry. wtf? do i have some crossed wires or something?

Over eating and being overweight are known causes of reduced sex drive, so that's not surprising (not saying you're overweight but you said sometimes you over eat, which everyone does occasionally). The whole stomach growling + arousal thing is kinda odd though, but it may just be you have crazy tons of sex drive and some of the foods you eat, or the quantity you eat at a time, suppresses that. So, its not that your libido increases when you're hungry, but that its big to begin with and decreases when you're full. Try a grazing diet, where you eat small amounts frequently through the day. Might balance it out.

hmmm.... valid points, but i don't think that's it. i mean, i've looked very good, and really liked the way i looked while i wasn't on a diet, and i'm not exactly eating the healthiest stuff on the planet right now, but i'm just eating considerably less. and i didn't really feel this way when i was doing the whole food vegan thing. i don't know... maybe it is just that i feel better about myself.

Vegans & vegetarians have a tendency to not get enough nutrition because of the limited diet, so that probably reduced your libido.

(yes I know a lot of vegans would probably yell at me for that, but any diet that limits your consumption of foods must be supplemented with vitamins, protein, or whatever else you're missing, which ive known many vegans who've failed to do, bc they do it on their own instead of consulting a nutritionalist & don't know any better.)

Eating healthy things can be beneficial to The sex drive. I used to drink allot of genseng and sexual "feelings" really increased. Stay away from that fast-food and you fine.

Enjoying food releases the good chemicals in the brain, like smoking, drinking, exercise and sex. Maybe your body is looking for another way to get its fix now you are denying it food. Sex and exercise are probably the two healthiest alternatives.

And the best thing is, if you kick on with the exercise regimen, you can also increase the amount of food you eat. Double dose of good chemicals!
