Is it normal that my legs give out on me?

I love to run. Sometimes when I am out running, my right leg will give out. I will stumble a few feet until I regain my balance. I would guess that this happens about once a week.

However, today I experienced something worse. I was out running as usual when, all of a sudden, I froze in place and both my legs gave out. I fell backwards and scraped my leg. It reminded me a little of those cheap toys where you press the button on the bottom and it collapses.

I'm not sure if this might have something to do with it, but I am on several psychiatric drugs including 5 mg Risperdal (Risperidone), 40 mg Lexapro and 0.5 mg Xanax (taken twice a day, so actually it's 1 mg). I have been taking these drugs every day for the past 6 years and have experienced very little side effects.

Aight if you see little dots when that hapens its blood pressure, if its that you feel weak it can be blood sugar or iron but what this looks like is a problem related to your ears. Ears are the center of balance, are you desoriented when you board a boat or airplain? And basicly what would hapen is that theres like tiny little instrument that keeps you aware of where the ground is and where you are in space, if they f-up you basicly lose your balance and fall then you suddenly get it back as those little instruments reset. That as simple as i can put it. Now if its your ears you have to go see a doctor since its new it could possibly be an infection wich will worsen and has to be taken care off with antibiotics. take care ^^

It may be the meds, but not in a way you think.....some of these meds interfere with certain minerals and electrolytes....I would make sure you take a vitamin/ mineral supplement every day and drink water prior to any exercise

It could possibly be a condition called drop foot. I don't know that much about it but it's worth looking into.

It could be the drugs, but before I read what you wrote about them I was thinking it could be something with the spinal cord. I think you should see a doctor or at least google it and read about the drugs you are on.

My legs have given up on me two times in my life, and both times I was crying very hard and I think it made me dizzy.
