Is it normal that my jaw sometimes makes a quiet crackling noise?

Sometimes (like maybe once a month) My jaw will make a quiet crackling/snapping sort of sound and then every time i open and close my jaw to talk or eat or whatever i hear the sound. Only I can hear it, its like internal. It goes away after a while though. Just annoying. Do other people get this?

It's probably the jaw joint ( TMJ ) making the noise. If it's just making noise it should not be a problem but if it causes pain , headaches , muscle spasms or locks open or shut you'll need to see a a oral surgeon since they are the ones who deal with jaw issues.

I'm not sure if it's normal, but it is common. I have something similar, except mine is in worse condition. I can't open my mouth wide without moving my jaw from side to side to pop the disk in the joint back into place.

You're probably literally falling apart, are there cracks on your jaw? Dude your jaw will probably fall off at any point.

My mum complains about her jaw cracking when she eats.... so i don't think you're the only one, but i would see a dentist anyway
