It depends on your country's cultural norms. Or his country's norms if he's foreign. Also, you'd have to specify how he punishes you.

If you live in an uncivilized country, try to discover some oil. Then america will bomb some democracy into your husband.

Eh, in the United States, that is considered abuse. It would be unreasonable for me to punish my man or vice-versa because we are adults and we respect each other (see comment about us being adults) enough to not repeat unreasonable actions that upset the other.
Punishing your spouse is childish behavior.
