Is it normal that my husband has all school notes and assignments?

My husband (age 41) has kept every school note and assignment from grade school through graduate school. He personally uses 30 deep drawer file cabinets, and it's not enough. I think it's an extension of a general obsession with paper, as he also keeps every ticket stub and business card he comes into contact with. What's up with this? Why would anyone want notes from a lecture they took freshman year of college or as a junior in high school? Does anyone else have experience with this kind of obsession. BTW, my husband is a professor who teaches history...so that's how he justifies it.

    You husband sounds a lot like me. My dad always called me a pack rat because I kept everything. It normal though; just s habit

    I still have some of my school yrs papers but I have probably 85% of my 16 yr old sons stuff.

    It's hoarding, not OCD. They are two different things.

    You should watch the show hoarders. It'svery interesting. I think you r husband just hoards. It is often associated with OCD.

    Funny, I still have all of my old school stuff too! I mean from waaaaay back! And I'm 27. OCD on my part...
