Is it normal that my friends call me by a nickname....

but use first names among themselves? Once in a while I will hear my group of friends call each other by their own "pet names". But it seems like they forget mine (even though I've been hanging out with them for almost 3 months). Or atleast I haven't really heard them call me by my real name. Yet they seemed to have no problem remembering each others for some reason. I've noticed it for a while but I'm still not sure how I feel about it. In a way I get it since my name is quite uncommon and is often mispronounced. But at the same it's like, "Really? I bothered to learn your names. My name isn't THAT difficult to say. Jeez." Plus it's not like the nickname is mean or anything (it's actually quite cute). But still I'm a little annoyed yet unsure. So...is it normal or rude? Should I call them out on it or leave it alone?

    I dont get how you can have a friend if they dont remember ur name. The term friend is thrown around too loosely these days.

    Well, what's your name? If your name is something weird and twisted, then it's ok for them to use a nickname instead.
    But don't make it into a big deal. Some people don't cope well with remembering names.
    You could ask them to call you by name if it's that much of a problem.
    For example:
    Sometimes my friends refer to me as "Bear". I got the nickname in school. I'm a tall heavy build guy,strongest in my class, normally calm, but when angry, I go crazy. So yeah... that got me the nickname "bear". I also got the nickname "megadriver", cause people liked my driving and think I'm a good driver. That's all fine, but I don't want them to use that nickname, cause it brags too much... In real life it's not fitting. XD So I stuck with "Bear". I like it
    Mostly my friends call me by my first name, but they do call me by my nickname too.

    I dont see why its upsetting to you nicknames show endear ment if they have given you one then you are very lucky i wish i could have a nickname :/

    When you first met your friends did you introduce yourself as your full name or nickname? If it was your full namr then how did the nickname come about? Did you tell them to call you it instead or did they make it up? If they made it up then it's their way of making it easier to adress you and to show that they think your worthy of sticking around. If you want then to call you by your full name then just ask, they will understand.

    I guess if you had no one to hang around with, that would be better?
    Petty crap, unimportant, too. Relax and don't make all this trouble in your mind for yourself, or go find new friends.

    Yes I don't understand why you think this is odd. Our one friend has a nickname we call them by. In fact I forgot there name since we only identify them as that.

    So what's wrong with Amara. Sounds ok to me. Sounds like these supposed friends are a bunch of idiots. Lose'em! It shows disrespect that they do not call u by your name. And if u wanna keeps them say "This is my name Please try and remember it" Rude or not!
