Is it normal that my friend made up a fake person?

It started when I got a follower on instagram from a girl named Holly. I looked at some of her photos and realized that I had seen her once; I saw her at my cousins Bat Mitzvah in NY! Then I saw one of my friends, Elle, tagged in one of her photo's. I found this REALLY weird because I live in Colorado and so does my friend, and Holly lives in NY! Later I asked Elle about Holly and she said that Holly was one of her camp friends. But me and my other friend Kim didn't believe her because she seemed really suspicious about the whole thing and it didn't make sense. One day I asked Elle to ask Holly if she knew my cousin Skylar. The next day Elle told me she did and soon after that Holly posted a pic on instagram of Skylar and her. Weird right!!! Me and Kim were super suspicious and I went on Holly's Ask.fm and said that I knew she had a fake account and stuff. She said that she wasn't fake or anything but I found it sooo weird because Elle had liked almost ALL of Holly's answers! I went on facebook and looked through Skylar's friends, that's when I saw a photo of 'Holly' next to the name Ally. I am 100% sure that Elle has been taking photo's from Ally's account and pretending that she is her friend!
Do you guys find this SUPER weird?
How can I confront Elle?
Is she psycho?

    Well, as a guy with multiple personality disorder... I would say she just tries to get attention or is feeling lonely. Thats what some of my olf teraphy friends used to do.

    I think you should just calmly tell her that you know Holly isn't real, you aren't annoyed about her making a person and and you aren't going to hold it against her. She probably made Holly up due to insecurity, so be tactful and non-confrontational.

    1. Why are you using their real names?!
    2. How do we know that "Elle" isn't really "Ally". If you are so bother block her accounts and if you believe that the two aren't the same, tell "Ally" about your suspicions about "Elle".

      1) I didn't use their real names except for "Holly"
      2) Elle is my friend I know what she looks like and I know what "Holly" looks like.
      I am going to tell Ally about what Elle is doing.

      Haha no... I would know if she is and she definitely isn't... She is actually pretending she is best friends with this girl!!! And it has been like a month since I first heard about "Holly" so I know she isn't joking!!!
