Is it normal that my feet hurt this bad??

Anytime I’m on my feet for long periods of time, my feet start to hurt. I’m not just talking about regular hurt. Like burning swelling hurt that I mostly feel in the souls of my feet. I’m a young teen girl who tries to be active but cant because of the intense pain after any long activity. My sister said that my ankles where swollen the other day. Is it just me?

  • True story: I once gained 120 lbs in a year and I could barely walk for the next year after that because of stress fractures in the bones of my feet. Even going to the grocery store was killer. Now, I've lost all of that weight and I never have pain in my feet or any of my other joints.

Are you overweight? Even if you're overweight by just a bit, it's enough to cause undue stress to your joints, ligaments, and muscles. Here's some things you might want to try:

-- Get a good pair of sneakers/runners that have a lot of cushioning.

-- Wear a pair of soft shoes (crocs are ugly but they're perfect for this) to wear around the house.

-- You may need orthotics and you should probably see a doctor, just to be safe.

-- Sometimes a cool foot bath feels just as good as a hot one, and we are heading into summer.

-- Stretch your feet a few times each day.

-- Try swimming or aquafit as a way to get exercise until your feet are stronger.

-- Adjust what you eat so that you can cut back on the amount of calories you consume.

I have extreme foot pain as well I am on my feet for about 9 hours a day 6 days a week. By the end of work I can barley stand. It's called planter facitus( check spelling) it pretty much means our arches in your feet are 'falling'. I can see my feet literally caving inwards but I just don't have the money for orthotics :(

    1. It could be your shoes.
    2. Your arch might have fallen.
    3. You could have a condition that makes your muscles weaker.
    4. Are you over weight?

You really must see a doctor. None of what you described sounds normal. Try to rest your feet as much as possible and refrain from psychical activities that cause it to swell. By some comfortable shoes that have good support.

You should see a doctor, or at least like buy some Dr. Scholl's.

I'm the same way. Buy comfortable walking sneakers and go see a doctor/chiropractor to get proper inserts.
