Is it normal that my family wants me to do something i dont want?

Well, following my joining in this school program which helps with military careers in the future, I have become to be very interested in joining the Marines once i get into and finish college. But my family thinks i should just join the army and be a regular soldier because my deceased grandfather retired in the army. They all try to convince me into joining a few times a week, and now i just don't know what don't should do. Do what i want, or make my family happy..

If you don't want to join the army, then don't.

This is your decision. Go into whatever service makes you happy. Trust me if you want to be in the marines you are going to be miserably in the army. It is a totally different experiences. I knew someone that did this and they hated it. Go in the service you want. No matter what you do you are serving your country. That is what truly matters.

Yes people get a lot of pressure from there families.

Right now i am trying to get my son to learn how to play street fighter on his own. But his fear of losing is stopping him from playing.

Don't do it just because your family want you to. If you end up hating it, then you might start to dislike your parents and blame them for making you do something you don't enjoy.
