Is it normal that my daughter (7) uses her diaper for convenience?

Our 7 year old daughter still wears pampers at night as she wets the bed almost every night... We don't make a big fuss about it, neither does she, it is just the way it is and we're confident it will stop sooner or later sometime... Anyways, yesterday we found out she sometimes pees in her diaper in the morning after waking up when she's still in bed - cause she's too lazy to get up, take off the diaper and stuff and go on the toilet... She also said it had already happened that she went into the diaper in the evening for the same reason... I basically told her i didnt think this is a particularly good idea and told her to stop doing that immediately. All she responded was "they're already wet from the night anyways so it doesnt really matter if i pee in them again... "- which left me without any good argument cause she's actually really got a point here... Cause she really wets them in her sleep almost every single night as i already wrote.. But i still dont like the idea if her just going into her diaper... What should i do? Any advice? My husband just suggested to me to chill down and let it be as it is... What do you think?

Talk to your pediatrician. The advice.you'll get here is about the same as you get in a biker bar or bowling alley.

Then eventually, when her "wake up, you need to pee" reflex comes in, she'll probably pee just because she's too lazy to get up and she's got the diaper on anyway and you're expecting it to be wet.

Is there a medical reason she's still bedwetting at seven? That's quite old. Two of my cousins were/are bedwetting, til 12ish for the one that doesn't anymore. For him, it was a medical thing and he needed to have surgery. The one who is six now is getting treatment from an osteopath.

Meh, it ain't that big of a deal. It'll change in time. If she was 17 and still doing it then you would have something to worry about.

I wish I could wear pampers so I won't have to get up to pee. I think she's got a point but she needs a reason to stop doing it. Maybe talk to her and ask her if she would think it's ok to wear pampers when she's older and it might look weird. She seems like a very smart reasonable person and you can usually talk them into doing the right thing

She's lazy. Get her into sports or she will be poorly motivated for her entire life.

I would just leave it alone is just a phase triggered by a big change in her little girl life, has she change schools, daycare, new baby in the family? if none of these apply I dont want not want to alarm you but traumatic events can trigger these as well such as molestation.

You can ways buy a "Bed Condom" Bed Bath and Bayond has some really nice ones.

She needs to learn to wake up when she needs to pee otherwise if this behaviour is made a habit of it'll be a crutch later on at an exceedingly inappropriate age. Let her pee in the bed and on herself and change the sheets when needed. She will have to learn sooner or later.
