Yeah, different guitars are for different things.

Its only normal if he 1. is using them, 2. can afford them, or 3. has the space for them. It becomes abnormal if he is hoarding them.

why this should be not normal, your dad jsut loves music and wants to try every guitar, cuz evry sounds diferent and feel diferent

Music is his passion, so it's quite understandable as to why he keeps buying guitars. I'd be really happy if I could come up with the money to buy an ebony Les Paul someday.

Its normal if he plays guitar and doesn't hoard lots of other things. I'm a musician and have lots of music gear, but that's the only thing that I have a lot of. Its only hoarding if you have a lot of something you don't use much.

Lucky him :P As CC says, you need different guitars for different sounds. Lots of people collect them just because good guitars look cool and hold value very well. They call it "Gear Acquisition Syndrome" :P

I have ten guitars in my house at the moment, though to be fair I often buy broken ones and fix them so it is pretty cheap. I like to modify them and try things that haven't been done before.
