Is it normal that my conversations are so short and dull?

Almost every conversation ends pretty quickly and seem pointless. I tried avoiding the short responses by asking other questions and completely answering the questions people ask me, but that just leads to a slightly longer conversation. In the end it seems like a topic is started, but me and whoever I'm talking to just run out of steam really quickly. There is never really a spark of interest created that makes the conversation go on longer.

It especially affects me when I'm talking to girls because they very rarely seem to share any type of common interest with me.

    You need to just ask many questions and find stuff you guys have in common. Also, open up and be yourself. And don't be shy, try to be more outgoing and just talk about anything!

    Don't worry, it happens to everybody truthfully. But like coolstorybro said, questions lead you to what interests you two have in common. Then when you know what interests you two have in common most likely you'll have longer converstions.

    Conversations can be incredibly difficult. But remember that a dialogue takes two people, so it's just as much their responsibility as yours to keep it alive. Not to mention, it's likely that they feel awkward about it too. Just try and relax.

    Me too. Hmmm... my conversations seem to end when I bring up murdering hookers and hiding them in basement walls. People share no same interests with me non soever.

    The same thing happend to me. Unfortunatly I've no advice. I've mostly stopped trying to start up conversations because I grew tired of them leading nowhere.
