Is it normal that my brother treats friends better?

I don't know why, but my younger brother is an absolutely different person with friends and even strangers. He is polite, kind, and thoughtful to them but with us he is the exact opposite.

At home, this guy absolutely disrespects our mom by mocking her accent (she REALLY hates that), sneaking out with his friends at night, never doing any chores, making mess on purpose for her, and too much more.

He goes out his way to make everyone miserable such as farting in our faces, wasting food, yelling absolute nonsense just to make noise, and the list goes on. But with even the most closest of friends, he never cusses, talks politely, compliments them, and acts like a decent human. Our mom definitely raised us right because the youngest brother and I are always like this, including to the crazy middle brother.

After two years away from him in college, this mother trucker hasn't changed a bit. I went out to dinner with my family and some family friends not too long ago this month. He was adored by the friends for his "lovely" behavior but when our family got back home, he went back to his old self. Or rather his true self, and so I remembered how much I hate this guy. But he is still my brother and brothers are always like this, right?

R-Right. . . ?

RIGHT?!?!?!

The End.

Normal or what?

If the little shit acted that way in my home, I'd put the asshole out on the street (or back yard) and put his food on the door step in a dog bowl, until he learned some respect. It shouldn't take too long for him to get the idea, if he has half a brain.

So nice of you to chime in petey, m'boy. Once again an erudite and informative post.
Just why is it you feel the need to make such an ass out of yourself? Actually, I don't really care, you just keep on making an ass out of yourself, I'm sure the rest of the IIN members hang on your every word. NOT!

    • You sound like my mom! When I was a little kid, I was mouthing-off about how I didn't want to live with her. So she pulled up next to the homeless shelter and told me to get out then, if living with her so bad.

Needless to say...I learned my lesson.

I guess you just have to stay distant from him. Whatever is up with him, he is likely to hurt anyone who gets close to him. And no...not all brothers are like that. It is a sickness.

Perhaps it means he loves all of you enough so as to not feel the need to put on a false face in front of you.
