Is it normal that my brother is a snob since he joined the navy

Ever since my brother joined the navy he has been a total snob and thinks hes hot shit. Now why i call him he acts like he is better than me and always has negative things to say about me. It not like its hard to join the navy, hes just a bad as someone working at mcdonalds. I'm going to go to college though, so why does he thinks hes better just because he has started his career early? Its just the navy...

  • Maybe this is the first thing he's done in his life that he's proud of himself for doing and he gets a bit carried away showing that pride. That doesn't excuse his bad behaviour, but maybe it might help you understand why he behaves the way he does.

  • That's why people join the military: To be hot shit. Blame propaganda.

both of my brothers were in the military. n ya they get big heads....but its all talk. trying to feel like a bigger man n all. he was probly like my brother...unpopular in highschool n afraid to ask out girls ....so he figured if he had a fancy uniform n a big gun it would make up for it. =p ....i just hug it out of him lol ...but that may be weird if ur a guy i guess.

It has nothing to do with Navy vs College. He's your brother. A guy acting like a jerk to his brother is not abnormal. My sister is constantly going on about how her job is better than mine.

  • Sounds like an asshole. I hate the military. I mean sure, it's a good thing to do to serve your country, but it's not like you're being drafted. And most people join it for all the wrong reasons such as escaping home, free living for a few years, the respect you glean from joining it, etc.

For college, you're practically just doing for yourself, but the navy, you've doing for the country.
Thats unusual.. for that to get ot someone's head.. but i suppose its normal. My dad was in the U.S Army

My dad was a navy man and I beg to differ...

'For college, you're practically just doing for yourself, but the navy, you've doing for the country.'

In the navy, this guy is told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. He's treated like a child and even his food is handed to him.
He may be taking the moral high ground and thinking he's better than his sibling but more likely than not, he's in with a bunch of @ssholes whose hormones are raging and he's desperately trying to fit in. When he goes home, he should remember what it's like to be a normal person.
