Is it normal that my broken wrist hurts while in a cast?

I broke my wrist in two place on December 16th. I have had a cast on since December 19th, but my wrist still hurts. Is this normal?

    Seriously? It's swollen and broken. Like a huge throbbing Dick trying to fit through the eye of a needle. It's going to hurt
