Is it normal that my brain ever records happy memories only sad ones?

I have went through too much trauma in life. My brain never records happy memories only sad ones. I hate seeing people laugh and happy. Every time they laugh I just want to hurt them but i control myself and try to ignore the voices. Is this normal?

I feel you there buddy. The only things that I remember and think over are the parts of my life where I embarrassed myself.

'Intruding thoughts' are the kind that hit you out of nowhere, usually about an embarrassing moment that makes you curse out loud.

The best way to overcome these thoughts is to think deeply about the events around that thought. As many details as you can. It'll blunt the sharpness of your recollection.

You need to seek professional help, dear heart. You don't have to feel this way forever. I'm serious, it can get better, so much better!

You have to let yourself feel the sadness of the memory that's hurting you. Recognise it as real and it was sad, and then start to move on. Leave it in its rightful place...as a memory. Then make some new happy ones. Màke yourself focus on some things you've liked recently. Use some favourite photos or items that you like which remind you of good times. Focus on.moving forward and let what has happened sit in the past. Smile !
