Is it normal that my boyfriend would dump me because of...

my boyfriend says if I prefer Star Wars attack of the clones and revenge of the sith to the original three star wars films (a new hope, the empire strikes back and return of the jedi) that he would dump me? Is this normal?

  • I wouldn't dump you, that's an overreaction.

    I'd hit you though.

I expect that's a joke / hyperbole on his part. Joking is normal.

You mean there are people out there that like the first three.

    Are you on drugs?

I think he was just joking.. But there's nothing wrong with having a preference. I liked both the original and prequel trilogy but I know most people liked the original trilogy more.

It really goes to the larger question of common sense, refinement, and good taste. Star Wars films are an excellent litmus test. Your boyfriend is quite right. If you don't like the original trilogy better, your very parentage may be in question. Are you a real human girl, or some kind of failed clone trooper experiment gone horribly wrong?

  • He'd dump you for that reason? Missy, you got off easy.

I would dump a partner for this. I want a partner I could have intellectual meaningful conversations with and someone who likes those prequels just isn't going to be able to provide that. Not liking any of them would be cool but liking the prequels more than the originals is just going too far.

Fuck me, I like the star wars eps 1, 2 and 3 and I don't understand why that's such a crime. What irritates me even more is when people hate George Lucas for them... YET HE MADE THE ORIGINAL STAR WARS. So what the fuck!? How can you hate a man for giving you the original enjoyment you loved. It's bullshit.

But, uh yeah, personal irritations aside... No, it's not normal, and tbh he should be grateful you're even in to Star Wars if you are. Not many guys can say their girlfriend's interested in whatever stuff they are.

No, you should dump him. He sounds like a moron. Who the f*ck cares about such petty things and to go to the length of breaking a relationship for it? That's just wrong.

Well if he is that obsessed with Star Wars to break up with you then dump his ass because he is a retard.

No... You'd be better off dumping him and finding yourself a man who is mature and mentally/emotionally stable. A man who understands the magical concept of person al tastes.

The only way I could see dumping as being a plausible action was if you were planning/desiring to wield your light sabre and kill/maim muggles with it.
